在科技发展日新月异及国家大力支持的背景下，中医药与天然药物在继承和发扬中不断与时俱进，发展创新，为人民的健康生活创造了福祉，对世界文明进步也产生了积极影响。2016年12月25日，《中华人民共和国中医药法》由全国人大常务委员会发布，自2017年7月1日起施行。《中医药法》主要以保护、扶持、发展中医药为宗旨，强化政策支持，坚持规范与扶持并重，在很大程度上解决了制约中医药发展的重点、难点问题，既利于促进中医药的继承和发展，也利于保持我国作为传统医药大国在世界传统医药发展中的领先地位。
“上海中医药与天然药物国际大会”自2008年以来成功举办九届，已发展成为中医药与天然药物领域内具有国际影响力的高端专业盛会，会议规模超过400人，有效促进了中医药与天然药物领域的现代化与国际化交流合作，为中医药科技界、企业界代表提供了大量有价值的前沿信息，助推中医药产业继续保持优质、高速、创新发展。
2017年10月29-31日，由上海市现代生物与医药产业办公室主办，上海市生物医药科技产业促进中心、中药标准化技术国家工程实验室、上海生物医药公共技术服务公司、上海乔源生物制药有限公司共同承办的“第十届上海中医药与天然药物国际大会”将在上海市远洋宾馆举行。届时，来自中医药与天然药物领域的中外院士、著名专家学者、企业精英、政府官员将通过大会报告、主题报告和主题交流等形式，就领域内的最新政策法规、研究动态、发展趋势、技术合作、产业热点等进行探讨。

Adopted at the 25th Session of the Standing Committee of the TwelfthNational People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, the publicationof the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Traditional Chinese Medicinelegally ensures the development of Chinese medicine, and boosts morale ofoverseas TCM practitioners. The Law provides a useful reference for TCMadministration and development by the government of other countries andregions.
Shanghai International Conference on Traditional Chinese Medicineand Natural Medicine has been successfully held for nine sessions since 2008,and gradually became a high-end professional event with internationalinfluence. The conference is hosted by Modern Biotechnology &Pharmaceutical Industry Office of Shanghai Municipality, organized by ShanghaiCenter of Biomedicine Development, National Engineering Laboratory for TCMStandardization Technology, Shanghai Biopharma Service Company, and ShanghaiQiaoYuan Biological Pharmaceutical co., LTD.
